If you are installing a new linksys adapter on newer pc that has Hotfix KB826942 or Q815485 installed it will directly conflict with the "configurator utility of windows". If you DO NOT have these hotfixes installed then it will be apart of SP1 for XP. then you will have to install a 3rd part configurator first www.boingo.com (linksys suggests) then go into serveices and disable the "Wireless zero configuration" this should resolve the issue.
